Take Care of Your Home, Take Care of Your Mind

As a newlywed wife, I will never be bored.

My home is the foundation of my mind. The way it looks and feels defines how I will live my day.

While my husband goes to work, instead of scrolling on my phone, I choose to take care of our home. Because a house is not just a place — it's the environment where our life happens.

Start Where Your Family Spends the Most Time

If you want to start keeping your house clean and organized, begin with the places where your family spends the most time: the kitchen and the living room.

Kitchen: Start with the Pantry

In the kitchen, start with your pantry. Take everything out. Throw away anything expired. Clean the shelves. Use organizing bins. Separate cans with cans, pasta with pasta, snacks together. Organize in a simple way that works for you.

Organize your food containers and your utensil drawer too. Remove the excess. We all have lids without matching containers. Less clutter means less mess.

Living Room: Keep It Clean and Clear

In the living room, keep the coffee table clean and clear. It seems small, but it changes everything. A clean visual space brings calm.

When the living room and kitchen are organized, the whole house feels lighter.

Give It 20 Minutes a Day

Set aside at least 20 minutes a day to maintain what is already organized. It's not about doing a deep clean every day. It's about consistency. Put things back where they belong. Wipe down surfaces. Reset what got messy.

Our Before-Bed Reset

Before bed, my husband and I always:

  • Wash the dishes
  • Clean the sink
  • Sweep the floor

And it transforms the morning. Waking up and having breakfast in an organized kitchen completely changes how the day begins.

Go Deeper Once or Twice a Month

Every 15 days or once a month, do a deeper cleaning. That way nothing builds up.

A Clean Kitchen Is a Sign of a Happy Home

I come from a Brazilian family, and my mother always said:

"A clean kitchen is a sign of a happy home."

But this does not mean we should be obsessed with cleaning. We need to understand that what we clean today may be messy tomorrow — and that's okay.

A messy home also means it is being lived in. It means movement, laughter, routine, life happening inside those walls.

It's About Balance

It's not about perfection.

It's not about control.

It's about balance.

We can't always blame work or lack of time. Many times we spend 30 minutes on social media. That same 30 minutes could completely transform our space.

When you take care of your home, you are taking care of your mind.

And when there is balance, there is peace. Let's Move Better Together!
